Rent an RV for a Weekend – 4th of July

It’s time to light the fuse on your holiday planning, because Independence Day is right around the corner. This year, July 4 falls on a Thursday, which gives you a perfect excuse to grab the family, load up the RV and sneak away for a long weekend. With that in mind, we’ve picked three of our favorite Independence Day celebrations where you can celebrate this quintessential American holiday in style, while enjoying a long weekend away.

WaWa Welcome America Party on the Parkway: Philadelphia, PA

There’s perhaps no better place to celebrate America’s birthday than in Philadelphia. After all, the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 here, at Independence Hall. Between 1790 and 1800, the city also served as the temporary capital of the United States during construction of the District of Columbia. It should come as no surprise that Philadelphia would throw a Fourth of July celebration that’s second-to-none.

The WaWa Welcome America Party on the Parkway — one of the largest free celebrations in the country — covers several blocks along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and features food trucks, live performances, games, a beer garden and kid’s zone. The evening caps off with free performances by Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor plus a massive fireworks display over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

After the celebrations are finished, your family can spend the rest of the long weekend soaking up some of the country’s most important historic landmarks, including The Liberty Bell Center, Valley Forge National National Historic Park and The Museum of the American Revolution

America’s Birthday Bash at Bayfront Park: Miami, FL

Sun worshippers can take their holiday festivities to Miami and celebrate America’s Birthday Bash at Bayfront Park. This event features plenty of family activities, live music and Miami’s best fireworks show — happening directly above Bayfront Park.

Once you’ve cooled down from a full day of festivities in the sun, you can spend the rest of the long weekend playing on the city’s sandy beaches or visiting a few of its other unbeatable vacation destinations

Park Your RV Here: Miami Everglades Resort & Campground

Nestled within 34 tropical acres, the Miami Everglades Resort & Campground sits between Everglades National Park and downtown Miami.

Fireworks Over the Boardwalk: Atlantic City, NJ

RVers in the New York/New Jersey area, desperate to taste a bit of salt air over their long weekend, should head to Atlantic City for Fireworks Over the Boardwalk. This event is actually two fireworks shows in one. At 9 p.m, the Borgata and Harrah’s casinos will host a show at the Marina District followed by a 10 p.m. fireworks show over the boardwalk and beach put on by the Tropicana.

Once the fireworks have ended, Atlantic City still holds plenty of family-friendly vacation activities. Visit the shops along the city’s famed boardwalk then stop and play at Steel Pier — the city’s oldest theme park — home to dozens of rides, a rock-climbing wall, go-karts, a roller coaster and live thrill shows. Families will also enjoy a trip to Ripley’s Believe It or Not, a museum filled with all manner of oddities and strange attractions. Or, you can simply spread a blanket out on the beach and play in the surf and sand under the watchful eye of Atlantic City’s lifeguards.
